P Visa Cultural Exchange


P NONIMMIGRANTS: PERFORMING ENTERTAINERS AND ATHLETES

The following individuals fall under the P-1 nonimmigrant visa classification:

(1) An individual who performs as an athlete, individually or as part of a group, at an internationally recognized level of performance.
(2) A professional athlete employed by: (1) a team that is a member of an association of 6 or more professional sports teams whose total combined revenues exceed $10,000,000 per year, if the association governs the conduct of its members and regulates the contests and exhibitions in which its member teams regularly engage, or (2) any minor league team that is affiliated with such an association.
(3) Amateur or professional ice skaters who perform, individually or as part of a group, in theatrical ice skating production or tours.

Filing Process:

In addition to evidence proving eligibility in one of the above categories, client must provide all personal information as follows:

(1) Name, address in US, address abroad, date of birth, place of birth, social security number and copy of I-94 card, if available. Include same information for spouses and children.
(2) Written advisory opinion from peer group (which can include a person or person with expertise in the area of the individuals’ ability) or a labor organization or management organization in the field. The letter must evaluate client’s ability and comment on whether services will be performed for an organization that operates at the highest levels of amateur performance. (We will help with this).

Information required from Employer:

(3)Complete name, address, telephone and fax numbers;
(4) Date business was established;
(5) Description of business activity;
(6) Number of employees;
(7) Gross and net income of company;
(8) Nature and duration of project(s), event(s) or activity(ies) (up to 3 years);
(9) Job title;
(10) Description of duties to be performed;
(11) Salary;
(12) Name and title of individual signing forms of behalf of employee;

Information required from the beneficiary:

(13) Updated, Detailed Curriculum Vitae
(14) Recommendation letters;
(15) Passport biographical information page;
(16) US visa, if any
